There is always a lot going on at our terminal; nearly 400 employees work around the clock on a 50-hectare site to provide highly complex logistics services. Our terminal is the biggest facility in the port of Hamburg specializing in wheeled cargo loading that handles modern Ro-Ro ships and ConRo ships. The dock section of 837 m in length offers two Ro-Ro berths at which the largest Ro-Ro ships in the world call on a regular basis.
The port of Hamburg is the biggest German container port and the second biggest in Europe. It therefore goes without saying that O’Swaldkai is well equipped for the standardized transport system.
Our terminal has all modern handling equipment for containers and serves all means of transport, from trucks and trains to ocean-going and inland vessels. ConRo ships are handled at the quays; in addition to wheeled cargo, these ships also discharge and load containers

Around 9,000 ship calls per year, almost 300 berths and a total of 43 kilometers of quay for seagoing vessels, more than 2,300 freight trains per week, four state-of-the-art container terminals, three cruise terminals and around 50 facilities specialized in handling roro and breakbulk and all kinds of bulk cargoes, along with about 7,300 logistics companies within the city limits – these are just a few of the factors making the Port of Hamburg to one of the world’s most flexible, high-performance universal ports. 136.5 million tons of cargo crossed the quay walls of Germany’s largest seaport in 2017. That included around 8.8 million standard containers (TEU). Hamburg is accordingly the third largest container port in Europe and in the 18th place on the list of the world’s largest container ports.
